COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS AND Main Event Leadership Academy

We have partnered with the Main Event Sports Show to assist them in bringing their award winning Main Event Leadership Academy to a wider audience.

The Main Event Leadership Academy (M.E.L.A.)  was started by the Main Event Sports Show because as they traveled the country covering various sporting events they were often times the only minorities there. M.E.L.A. was started with the intent of teaching youth how to use social journalism to bring a positive change to their lives and the community.

M.E.L.A. teaches youth how to set up their own podcast/blog/volg on various social media platforms. In doing so the youth learn, how they can use these free services to bring a positive change to their lives, journalism, writing and critical thinking skills, and how to use technology.

The youth also get a chance to intern on the Main Event Sports Show, thereby getting real world hands-on experience with covering live events, writing about those events, and producing radio and TV segments about those events. They also have the opportunity to intern and work on other projects. This not only gives them more experience, but they learn about other organizations and their work.

Boys 2 Men Mentoring Program

The Boys to Men mentoring program connects youth with strong, supportive men who encourage them to become positive forces in their communities. This weekly interactive program shows our participants how to become strong, self actualized Black men by introducing them to the tools they will need to be successful. This will be a hands on program that will be able to meet the youth where they are and give the culture, history and values they need to succeed.

Building Through Partnerships

We believe that in order to build better communities you have to build better partnerships. No one organization has all the answers, but by working together we can have a tremendous impact.

That's why we have partnered with a select group of organizations that align with the goals and ideals of the Community Connections Group.
